COURSE INFORMATION

What is the style of lessons with Vive SPANISH?

The language of study (Spanish) is used as much as possible during lessons, from the first session of complete beginners onward. In this way, students will get used to the sounds of the language and it will help them to enhance their learning. A particular importance is placed on the spoken language, but all aspects are covered in our courses – listening, reading, writing and speaking, together with grammar and vocabulary.

Do you run both Face-to-face and Online courses?

Yes, we do!
Face-to-face classes take at our school located in Calle Guardia Civil, 33-bajo in Valencia, Spain.
We also run online courses via Zoom or other kind of platforms.

For the rest of the courses, please send us an email to request information about timetables.

How do I know what level I am?

There are several ways to find out what your level is. Firstly, we would advise you to take our online level tests. This will help you to determine the best type of course for you. The idea is to work through the questions as far as you can and then submit. Your results will give you an indication of your banding (beginners/elementary/pre-intermediate etc).
Important note – this test is intended as a guide only. It will give you and us an idea of your level of proficiency in grammar but does not reflect your spoken skills. In order to obtain a complete result, we will conduct an oral test either via video call or on the first day of class.
We recommend students to look at our contents and objectives by level – this should help you to select the best option for you, based on your current knowledge and previous studies. Another useful tip is to look at the corresponding language level guide as this will give you a rough guideline in relation to the international standards.

Is the teacher a native speaker?

Our fully-qualified teachers are native-level.

Do teachers speak Spanish during the lessons?

The effective way to learn or improve a language skill is through immersion in the target language, even complex explanation of grammar or vocabulary is often explained in Spanish. Rest assured we will have no trouble in making ourselves understood even by students who have little or no knowledge of Spanish.

Can I receive a qualification or certificate?

Yes, you can receive an end of course certificate that will confirm the number of hours you have studied at the school, the course you have taken and the level you have achieved.

Is there a minimum attendance requirement to obtain the certificate?

Students must attend all timetabled classes regularly and to call or notify us in case of absence or late arrival. 75% attendance is required to be eligible for any of the certificates.

How to deal with long absences (illness, travel, holidays)?

If the student misses 15 consecutive days of classes, the school will not make any refund and the course will be cancelled. Even if the absence has been justified, with sufficient advance notice and duly communicated (email or WhatsApp), the school does not guarantee that the student can be located in the same group and/or level in which he/she was when he/she was absent.
It is the student’s obligation to give the school at least 5 days’ notice of the exact date of their return. In order to disrupt and damage as much as possible the progress of students who do attend classes regularly, if the student who is absent does not give notice of his or her reinstatement, he or she will assume the risk that there will be no vacancies in any of the groups that are open at that time and will not be able to re-join classes until the school notifies him or her of his or her possible reinstatement.

How much homework is typically involved?

You will get formal homework per class/session, but in addition and in particular with an intensive 20 course, we would recommend you invest a further 15 minutes of self study per day.

What happens if I find do my class is too easy or too difficult for me?

If at the end of your first lesson you find the course content too easy or too hard, you can switch courses up or down accordingly. Please speak to your teacher and contact us. We will review the situation and look to move you to a class more suited to your ability.

What happens if I miss a lesson during the course?

You can send us an email to see what was covered in the class you missed and any homework.

What do I do if I am going to miss the first lesson?

Please let us know so that we can advise your teacher.

What if my teacher is ill during the course?

If your teacher is ill during the course we will organise a cover teacher to take your lesson. If no cover teacher is available we will simply defer the lesson and extend the length of the course.
